Respect means seeing yourself and others as who you truly are: spiritual beings of great significance, power, love and ability.  It means recognizing the whole of the individual, and not fixating on or being judgmental about any particular part of the person.

Respect is empowering.  It is fearless.  It is loving and powerful.  However, you will not be able to simply say to yourself, “Self, I will now respect everyone I meet.”  The only way to sustain an attitude of respect towards others is to have abiding respect, love and connection for yourself, within yourself.  Thus, respect takes on a spiritual aspect.
