Manipulation
Manipulation is a denial strategy. When I manipulate myself or other people, I attempt to control, deceive, falsify, dominate or exploit others (or self) by creating a perception that is uniquely what I want. I desire a particular outcome, and I manipulate in order to achieve it. Most of the time, manipulation is completely unconscious on the part of the person who is manipulating—I alter my perception of reality, and then attempt to “convince” others that my perception is the Truth. It is also possible to consciously manipulate others by intentionally deceiving them into believing a particular storyline, so that I can have what I want.
