Perceptions, Motives & Agendas Classroom

Perceptions

In every experience, every moment of every day, we are perceiving. We process visual information, sound, smells, tastes, and physical sensations. We take in all of this information, run it through our “filter” of our past experiences, meanings, shame, etc. and create our own unique perceptions of our experiences.

Motives & Agendas

As we perceive our experiences, so we respond or react to them. Our perceptions create our motives and agendas. If we perceive danger, our motive will be to escape or fight. If, on the other hand, we perceive safety, our motives and agendas might be curious and inquisitive. In our relationships, it is vital that we identify our true motives and agendas, in order to be completely honest and connected with self and others.
