Uniqueness
When I use the denial strategy of uniqueness or “being different,” I feel entitled to do things that others aren’t allowed or supposed to do. I believe I am more special than others, that the rules don’t apply to me, and I expect exceptions to be made for me. This denial strategy includes power tactics: “I can do this because I’m different from you.”
You can use uniqueness to feel uniquely better than others (pride), and you can also choose to feel uniquely bad, unworthy and worse than others (shame). Both directions are distortions. The Truth is, nobody is innately (in their Soul) different from others. Our human nature is universal. The only things which are unique to us as individualsl are our experiences and how we respond to those experiences (our choices).
